Celebrity and relationships

According to Dr. John Aiken, film and television protagonists may form unrealistic competition between our partners. He says Twilight’s Edward Cullen is the perfect example. Ladies would easily compare their boyfriends or husbands to Edward, how he’s always there for Bella, and how charming he is. He says it’s dangerous to compare your partner with a fictional figure.
However in my case it was quite different. I benefited from comparing my ex-boyfriend to Seth Cohen from the O.C. My ex-boyfriend was hot but was a player, nothing like Seth. And when I figured out that I need a Seth Cohen in my life, I ended things with my ex. And now I’m with my current boyfriend who is just as cute and loving as Seth.
I also think that we need to think vice versa, we need to know our partners fantasies, so that we can shape ourselves more like them in a realistic way.
So to sum things up, you have got to be realistic. If you think your partner isn’t hot enough, then you’re being unrealistic. But if you want someone who is less of a player and more loving, then maybe you should end things with your partner and try to find a new guy. Just keep in mind: follow your heart!
