Something borrowed

I watched the trailer of this movie that stars Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin and I had a lot of expectations as in a typical rom-com. And I wasn't disappointed!=)

Ever since Mona Lisa Smile, I thought Ginnifer Goodwin was cute. Then she starred in He's Just Not That Into You, which was also reflected how cute she is. Now she dazzles us with her charms again in this movie.

The story takes off as Rachel (Ginnifer) turns 30, and after her birthday party she had sex with her best friend's Darcy's(Kate) fiance whom actually was Rachel's law school crush. As the movie goes on, Rachel doesn't know what to do, pursue her lover and jeopardize her and Darcy's friendship, or let them get married and be miserable. The fiance Dex is also very confused of what to do. Besides, Rachel's best guy friend Ethan confesses that he loves her and always has, turning this into a love rectangle.

There is a cute twist in the end, and if you like happy endings, this is the movie for you!=)

Eat Pray Love Book Review

Eat Pray Love is an autobiography that chronicles a woman’s (Liz’s) search to find the true meaning of life and how she rebounds from her bitter divorce. She first goes to Rome, and then India and last but not least Bali.

My favourite part is when she went to Rome. She wrote about many funny anecdotes about her eating, gaining weight, learning Italian and how people do PDA (public display of affection) a lot in Rome. She also talked about a failed Thanksgiving dinner but how they all coped with it in great fashion. Elizabeth (Liz) Gilbert talks about celibacy as well and how she maintained it barely.

Then there is India. To me that was the boring part because to be honest meditation really isn’t my cup of tea. The only interesting part of India was the part when the little Indian teenage girl got married.

Her last stop was Bali where she searched for the medicine man who forecasted her fortune correctly—she will lose all her money and will go back to Bali and see him again. There the medicine man taught him most of the things he knew, and in return Liz taught him English.

I love the ending, such a lovely way to end a year’s long travelling. It also makes me anticipate the sequel—Committed.

Eat Pray Love is now a major motion picture starring Julia Roberts, James Franco and Javier Bardem. Personally I liked the book better than the movie but who knows, you might like them both. But make sure you read the book first because it is a must read.

Thoughts about life after watching 2 movies on the plane

Life as We Know it (Katherine Heigel)
All of a sudden taking on the job of a parent without planning can be a nuisance. but the lesson learnt here is that it will all be worth it. parenthood is a rewarding and fun process that everyone should go through. personally i can't wait to be a mom!=)

Going the Distance (Drew Berrymore, Justin Long)
As a person going through a long distance relatioship myself, i can totally relate to the movie. it takes a lot of commitment to be in one. skype helps a lot. texts as well. parcels etc. of course we need to fly back and forth a lot. but this time andy and i dont kno when we'll c each other again, coz it's hard to earn a living for me in melbourne and andy still has a year of sch to go=(. so it was particulary hard to part from him this time=(. luckily we spent most of 2010 together=) which hopefully will make up for this long separation.
